Spier Wins Gold at International Wine Challenge and Decanter World Wine Awards 2006

In brisk succession to its triple Gold success at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Winecorp’s Spier has won a Gold Medal at both the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge, in addition to two Silver- and three Bronze Medals at the latter meet.

Spier Private Collection Pinotage 2003 was one of only 12 South African recipients of Gold at the International Wine Challenge 2006. The event attracted more than 9000 entries, including 585 from South Africa, whose total medal tally was 147.

Spier Vintage Selection Shiraz/Mourvédre/Viognier 2004 was awarded a Decanter Gold and, like the IWC winner, was a Gold Medal recipient at this year’s Concours Mondial De Bruxelles.

This has been a particularly successful year for Winecorp, whose additional wins include the WINE magazine TOPS at SPAR Chenin Blanc Challenge 2006 and the World Association of Wine & Spirits Writers and Journalists Ranking of Wineries of South Africa 2005/2006.
