A dynasty of changing tastes

This podcast was made at the 250 year celebrations of the Riedel Glassware Company in Kufstein, Austria.

The formulation of the Sommelier series of mouth-blown glassware which first demonstrated how a glasses’s shape could influence the taste of the wine inside was a landmark in wine glass design. The Riedel company were the first to develop this idea and their stemware is recognised worldwide as one of the finest, if not the finest, for wine-lovers. The range has been extended to include specific glasses for all popular varietals.

Targetted Wine Supplements for the consumer

FineWinePress.com and Bettanedesseauve.com have collaborated to produce a supplement for the International Herald Tribune which will be published on Saturday 30 June, 2006. The supplement entitled Wine Trails will be available from all good newsagents across Europe. The contents include: châteaux and domains, guest rooms, hotels, restaurants and essential addresses — the best in wine tourism in Bordeaux, Champagne, Burgundy and Rhône Valley, Tuscany, Napa Valley and Sonoma. The supplement was produced in conjunction with Editorial & Régie, Paris.

The Supplement is the first in the English language under this cooperation and another is due to follow this year with more planned for 2007. Supplements have already appeared for Le Monde newspaper with a new one due out at the end of June 2006.

GT Louvre S.A.S. announces sale of Taittinger CCVC to Crédit Agricole du Nord Est for €660 million

After receiving the unanimous support of the Taittinger CCVC workers’ council late in May 2006, GT Louvre S.A.S. (“GTL”), a wholly-owned affiliate of Starwood Capital Group Global LLC (“Starwood Capital”), has signed a definitive agreement with Crédit Agricole du Nord Est regarding the sale of Taittinger CCVC. The enterprise value ascribed to GTL’s interests in the businesses owned by Taittinger CCVC is approximately €660 million, including assumed debt and assumed liabilities. Closing of the transaction is conditioned only on required anti-trust approval and is expected to occur in early August 2006.
