The Lion Nathan Wine Group (LNWG) today announced an alliance with Beam Wine Estates (BWE) for the distribution of its Australian and New Zealand premium wine portfolio into the United States (US) market.
From September 1st 2006 LNWG’s Australian and New Zealand brands, including Petaluma, St Hallett and Wither Hills will join the existing Californian focussed BWE portfolio for marketing and distribution across the US.
LNWG Managing Director Peter Cowan said: “A key strategic objective has been to establish the best possible fine wine route-to-market system in our priority international markets. We are delighted with the opportunity to partner Beam Wine Estates in the US, bringing together our shared focus on regional fine wines in conjunction with their extensive fine wine sales capability.”
In a challenging global wine market, both companies have maintained a focus on building and maintaining high equity brands that command premium pricing.
BWE President Bill Newlands says, “Both companies are building iconic brands that are appellation focussed. We are pleased to be introducing to our customers some of the finest wines Australia and New Zealand has to offer.”
The Beam Wine Estate portfolio consists of thirteen leading California wine brands including the ultra-premium wineries Gary Farrell, Wild Horse and Buena Vista Carneros as well as Clos du Bois, the number two super-premium U.S. wine brand, Geyser Peak Winery and Roth California vodka.
An agreement has been reached with current US distributor, Paterno Wines International, for the Australia/ New Zealand wine portfolio to move to BWE.
