‘Scotsdale’ Shiraz scores dual Gold Medal success

The 2004 Howard Park ‘Scotsdale’ Shiraz has achieved outstanding Gold Medal success at two of Australia’s most prestigious wine shows, the 2006 Visy Great Australian Shiraz Challenge in Victoria and the 29th Annual Qantas Mount Barker Wine Show in Western Australia.

The 2004 Howard Park ‘Scotsdale’ Shiraz is a single vineyard wine from the Frankland River area in the Great Southern and is one of four wines that form the Howard Park Single Vineyard Series.

Typical of the Frankland River region, the Scotsdale Shiraz mingles earthy and spicy aromas with a complex palate of ripe cherries, herbs, spices and cloves.

“This wine is truly reflective of Howard Park’s philosophy that premium wine can only come from excellent fruit. The vineyard producing our ‘Scotsdale’ Shiraz is given extraordinary attention and showcases the strength of the Frankland River region in producing exceptional Shiraz,” says chief winemaker Michael Kerrigan.

In its 12th year, the Visy Great Australian Shiraz Challenge was led by Chairman of Judges James Halliday, offering a unique opportunity for Australia’s premier red winemakers to reinforce the reputation of the variety as a national and international wine icon.

The Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia is the largest gathering of Western Australian wines in one location and was this year judged by an elite panel lead by Chairman of Judges Huon Hooke.
