The Millesime Bio annual tasting of organic wines sees audience grow by 10%

For the 14th year running, the Millesime Bio international tasting of organic wines took place in Narbonne, France, on 15, 16 and 17 January 2007. Organised by the Inter-Professional Association of Organic Wines from Languedoc-Roussillon (AIVB-LR), this year’s fair saw a ten percent increase in the number of visitors, including a 33% growth in the number of wine buyers.

The three-day tasting at the city’s Parc des Exposition attracted over 700 visitors in total, where four in ten had come from abroad. Out of these, 6% were from the UK, which shows an increase of one percent compared with last year’s fair. Most of the 237 producers were from France (83.5%), followed by Spain (8%) and Italy (7%).

Thierry Duchene, Director at the Association of Organic Wines from Languedoc Roussillon (AIVB-LR), said:

“The Millesime Bio 2007 was a success! The 33% increase in the number of enterprises visiting the fair suggests an upswing in the market for organic wines and a growing interest among wine professionals. With one in four visitors coming from abroad, this fair is establishing itself as an essential element of the organic wine industry”.
