Vinfolio (http://www.vinfolio.com), a premier online wine store and collector services company, announced the release of the 23rd edition of the Wine Price File (WPF), the most extensive published compilation of wine auction prices. In addition to the printed edition, Vinfolio integrates auction prices online into VinCellar(TM), its free online cellar management software as part of its valuation engine.
“Wine collectors want to be able to view auction prices against their
own collections,” says Stephen Bachmann, CEO of Vinfolio. “By releasing
both a printed edition and incorporating the data into VinCellar, we’re
better able to meet the needs of collectors and industry experts alike.”
The new edition provides pricing data from 551 auctions dating from
January 1999 through December 2006. Data totals over 326,000 individual lot
prices and 76,000 summary listings with high/low/average pricing. The
listings include various bottle sizes and vintages from 1727 to 2005. The
current edition includes wine sales across the United States and Europe
from Acker Merrill & Condit, Bonhams, Bonhams & Butterfields, Christie’s,
Edward Roberts International, Hart Davis Hart, Morrell and Company,
Sotheby’s, and Zachys Wine Auctions.
The auction market continued to surge with 106 sales in 2006. As
expected, Bordeaux First Growths dominated with Mouton Rothschild, Lafite,
Latour, Margaux and Petrus contributing the most volume. Buyers should take
note that most of the major auction houses have increased buyers’ premiums
for U.S. auctions from the typical 17.5% to 19.5%.
Copies of the Wine Price File can be purchased for $49.95 plus shipping
and handling from Vinfolio at http://www.wineprices.com or by calling
