Over 1000 wineries showcased at FENAVIN 2007

The fair will attract 200 wineries more than the previous year. Nearly all Spanish Designations of Origin will be present at the National Wine Fair FENAVIN 2007, since around 1 000 wineries and cooperatives have confirmed attendance at the coming edition, to be held in Ciudad Real from 7 to 10 May.

“All the regions, through their wineries and institutions, shall be represented at FENAVIN,” according to the fair’s chairman Mr. Nemesio Lara, who also declared that “the shortage of space is a problem”. 87 wineries are still on the waiting list, despite the fact that exhibition space has expanded by 32.6 percent since last year, up to 19,375 m2.

On the other hand, cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce, the Castilla – La Mancha foreign trade agency (IPEX) and the Ciudad Real Provincial Administration has assured attendance of nearly 1,000 international importers and distributors, according to figures supplied by the organizers.

The chairman recalled that the previous edition set the scene for 21,269 commercial contacts, with 52 percent of exhibitors stating that they had done business at FENAVIN. “This year, with more exhibitors and more wineries, figures will rise,” explained Nemesio Lara.

The fair includes over 40 parallel activities. There are to be conferences by members of the Institute of Masters of Wine, as well as seminars attended by wine professionals from Japan, Scandinavia, India, United Kingdom, the US and Germany.

‘El Buscador de Negocio’ (the Business Finder), with a listing of showcased wineries, and La Galería del Vino (the Wine Gallery), with over 1,000 wines ready for tasting, are the two initiatives that round off FENAVIN 2007.
