Industry welcomes anti dumping duties on French brandy

The Winemakers’ Federation of Australia, which represents producers of Australian wines and brandies, has welcomed the decision to apply countervailing duties to imported French brandy under government anti-dumping laws.

The Queen Toasts with Schramsberg Rose

Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2004 was served recently at the State Dinner at the White House honoring Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. This continues the tradition of the White House serving Schramsberg sparkling wines at official events. Their wines have been served at over seventy-two events under every sitting president since Nixon’s famous 1972 “Toast to Peace” with China’s Chou En-Lai in Beijing.

Napa Valley Receives Geographic Indication (GI) Status in Europe

At a reception held at the German Consulate in San Francisco recently, officials representing the European Union and leadership from the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announced today that Napa Valley has been officially recognized with Geographic Indication (GI) Status as a protected name in the European Union, the first such recognition of an American wine place name.

Eighth wine salon in Chile: September 2007

The Eighth version of the Wine Salon – “VIII Salón del Vino en Chile” was confirmed for September 7th and 8th of 2007 in “Espacio Cero in the City of Concepción”, in the Bio Bio Region. This year, among the exhibitors will include Pisco, Organic Products, Olive oil, Beers, Liquors, Chocolates and Gastronomic Products. Regional wineries as Tierra y Fuego, Männle, Tierras de Arrau, Casas de Giner, Casanueva, Valle de Itata and Viñedos Larqui already confirmed their attendance.
