Calling all artists

The Wine Trade Arts Society (WTAS) has been running annual exhibitions
for amateur and professional artists from the Wine and Spirit sector for
over 40 years providing them with a forum to establish, promote and sell
their works. Until recently this has been held at the prestigious
Christie’s Auction House, thanks to support from outgoing chairman,
Michael Broadbent.

Michael Broadbent has been chairman of WTAS since 1972 but due to
pressures of other commitments has decided now is the right time to step
down and let others move the Society forward. Unfortunately, this has
coincided with several others from the committee reaching similar
decisions.

Michael, who is a distinguished artist as well as a respected member of
the wine trade, commented ‘the WTAS is a fantastic opportunity for
amateur artists to exhibit and sell their work. I hope that others will
seize the opportunity to continue its great work and enjoy membership as
much as I have.’

New committee member Nicolla Greaves, from the Wine & Spirit Education
Trust and keen photographer and painter, adds, ‘We would love to hear
from any person or organisation in the trade who can support WTAS by
joining the committee or becoming an active member, helping to ensure
the annual exhibition can continue. We would also welcome interest from
artists of all media who would like to be involved in our work. Without
this support, WTAS may not have a future.’
