Presidency of the BIVB: Pierre-Henry Gagey

On 12 June last, Pierre-Henry Gagey became president of the
Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne (BIVB) during the
last Annual General Meeting.

At the head of the Maison Louis Jadot (Beaune), Pierre-Henry Gagey, an elected member of the college of wine merchants, has on several occasions been involved in trade bodies and also sat on the national committee of the National Institute for Origin and Quality (Institut de l’origine et de la qualité, or INAO). Previously acting as the Executive President, Pierre-Henry Gagey now succeeds Michel Baldassini. Mr Baldassini, for his part, will assume the role of Executive President for the next two years. This is the first time the presidential pair alternates in this way, and is the result of a decision taken as part of the operating review approved in July 2006.

Pierre-Henry Gagey had this to say: “… we know that nothing has been won yet and that our wine-growing region must continue to strive to maintain its position in the face of increasingly stiff competition from around the world.

We are working non-stop on improving our wines to ensure
optimum quality for each consumer. Along with all the companies
in the industry, and in daily contact with the market, Burgundy is
benefiting from a collective momentum that is in the ‘greater’
interest of both Burgundy and its consumers: the continual pursuit
of higher quality.”
