Eisch Glaskultur revolutionizes wine decanting

Eisch Glaskultur, maker of Germany’s finest glass products, has developed two new innovative products alos perfect for holiday gifting and entertaining: a “Breathable Glass” wine glass and a “No Drop Effect” decanter. The two products are examples of the Eisch tradition of combining generations of fine glassware craftsmanship and artistry with modern technology.

“Our new products have revolutionized the experience of pouring and enjoying a glass of fine wine,” said Eberhard Eisch, President of Eisch Glaskultur. “With a sleek shape and special treatment of the glass
surface that prevents wine from running down the side of the carafe, our ‘No Drop Effect’ decanter (SRP $149) protects against annoying drips and stains. A wine poured into one of our ‘Breathable Glass’ wine glasses (SRP $19-$26) will within two to four minutes show signs of aeration equivalent to a wine that has been decanted and aerated for one to two hours.”

Eisch “Breathable Glass” wine glasses possess two unique qualities that significantly shorten the duration of the aeration process. First, the shape of each glass has been specially designed to accentuate the
character of the wine it holds. Second, each glass is made of the highest quality lead-free crystal glass that undergoes a special proprietary oxygenizing treatment. Together, these qualities allow the wine in the glass to fully aerate within minutes, as opposed to potentially hours with standard stemware. “This is a fully natural process that takes place within the wine itself, leaving the original character and structure of the wine intact and its aroma and palate more open and generous,” said Eisch.

After conducting extensive testing on Eisch “Breathable Glass,” Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and Publisher of Restaurant Wine Ronn Wiegand was very impressed with the product, calling it a “real contribution to the enjoyment of wine!”

Gordon Burns, President and Technical Director of ETS (Enological Testing Services) Laboratories, also participated in a taste test with the “Breathable Glass” glassware, and he wrote, “The tasting left me
convinced that Breathable Glass can have an almost immediate sensory impact across several wine types and glass shapes.”

The Eisch family, having lived in the Bavarian Forest region for three generations, sees life and glass as inseparably linked to nature. This philosophy is reflected in their entire line of fine glass products,
which features elements of the natural world in every piece. Its most recent creation, the “No Drop Effect” decanter, has been fashioned in the sleek shape of a duck.

“Our new ‘No Drop Effect’ decanter emulates the shape of a duck to allow for greater ease in the flow of wine from the decanter,” said Eisch. “Duck-shaped decanters have their origin in the earliest wine jugs used in ancient times. Translated into a modern, attractive design, they combine traditional wine culture with today’s knowledge of wine handling, with each decanter receiving a special proprietary treatment
on the surface of the glass to permanently prevent drips from running down the outside.”

The Eisch family also draws inspiration from world-renowned glass artist and painter and family member Erwin Eisch (son of Valentin Eisch, founder of Eisch Glaskultur), who is credited as the pioneer and
spiritual father of the studio glass movement in Europe. For Eisch Glaskultur, he provides important inspiration. “Each Eisch Glaskultur product is a work of art, carefully hand crafted to fully exemplify the
natural beauty of glass,” said Eisch.

Eisch Glaskultur “No Drop Decanter” (SRP $149) and “Breathable Glass” wine glasses (SRP $19 - $26) are currently available at retail Bed, Bath & Beyond and will soon be available at Macys headquarter stores
nationwide. A large selection of additional Eisch products can be ordered online at www.eisch.de. The Eisch family, through three generations, has grown Eisch Glaskultur into one of the world’s finest
and most important glass manufacturers. In 1946 Valentin Eisch, together with his wife Therese and six children, started their own glass refining company. Over the next several decades, the family and its employees dedicated themselves to growing Eisch Glaskultur into a world-renowned company, producing some of the world’s finest glassware. Today, the company is run by Julia Eichinger-Eisch and Eberhard Eisch, third generation members of the Eisch family. Erwin Eisch, son of Valentin and Therese Eisch, is a famous glass artist and inspiration to the Eisch family and its glass products. The name Erwin Eisch is inseparably linked with the Studio Glass Movement, a movement of artists that freed the material glass from being a functional material and that wanted to elevate it as a material for artistic expression. Eisch is credited in the world of art for giving glass poetic value.
