The Magnificent Private Collection of Dr. Nils Stormby to be Auctioned in New York City at Famed Restaurant, Daniel, on Friday, September 28th

Zachys Wine Auctions has announced its upcoming sale of one of the finest and most extensive private wine collections in the world. Discerningly and painstakingly acquired over a lifetime by Dr. Nils Stormby of Sweden, over 4,500 bottles of some of the world’s most coveted wines will be available for purchase Friday September 28, 2007, 10:00 AM at world-class restaurant DANIEL in New York City.

Dr. Stormby’s extensive and unrivaled collection includes over seventy vintages of Chateau d’Yquem, many direct from the cellar sealed in their original wooden cases, dating back as far as 1858. Among the Chateau d’Yquem on offer are five bottles of the legendary 1921, ten bottles of the great 1937, magnums of 1924, 1945 & 1955 as well as full cases in original wood of the 1945, 1949, 1962 & 1967. Some of the other magnificent original wooden cases untouched until assessment by the Zachys team include Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1949 and 1961, Chateau Petrus 1982 and 1990, and Cote Rotie La Turque Guigal 1985. This is one of the finest collections ever to come to auction in New York.

Dr. Stormby is one of Sweden’s most accomplished and prominent citizens. A prolific and pioneering physician, author, inventor, philanthropist, restaurateur and international diplomat, he is currently Sweden’s Honorary Consul General to Japan. Dr. Stormby spent almost 50 years amassing his collection.
