First Venture enters agreement that will allow for commercial production of Ethyl Carbamate minimizing yeasts with a North American based yeast producer.

First Venture Technologies Corp. (TSX-V: FEB) is pleased to announce that its subsidiary has signed an agreement with an established North American specialty yeast producer, allowing for the commercial production of First Venture’s urea-degrading yeasts on a non-exclusive basis for the 2007 winemaking season. This material transfer agreement involves First Venture’s proprietary wine yeast(s) that have been evaluated and proven effective in numerous commercial trials.

“This company is an established high quality producer that has been making specialty yeasts for over 20 years,” said Andy Starr, First Venture Yeast Product, Inc.’s Director of Marketing and Business Development.

“First Venture is pleased to develop a relationship with this established specialty yeast producer” said Dr. John Husnik, First Venture’s research scientist. “The Company continues to develop relationships, as well, with larger global yeast companies as an integral part of its commercialization strategy that includes its own ability to make these urea-degrading yeasts available to food and beverage manufacturers and yeast producers world-wide.”

Health and food safety organizations, such as the World Health Organization’s (”WHO”) Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives continue to recommend that mitigation measures to reduce ethyl carbamate levels in foods and alcoholic beverages continue. The European Food Safety Authority issued a call for data and studies on the risks of ethyl carbamate and cyanide in alcoholic beverages in autumn 2006. In February 2007, a Monograph working group of the WHO’s International Agency on Research for Cancer re-evaluated ethyl carbamate and classified it as a Group 2A probable carcinogen in humans.
