Two years before the fair starts - Preparations for drinktec 2009 enter the critical phase

Preparations for drinktec 2009, the World Fair for Beverage and Liquid Food Technology, are stepping up a gear. In mid September the registration documents were sent out, and by March 2008 the drinktec team will begin allocating stands.

drinktec 2009 takes place from 14 to 19 September at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. Around 1,500 exhibitors from all over the world will be coming here to showcase the latest technologies in the manufacture, filling, packaging and distribution of beverages of all types, including liquid food. Exhibitors who register early have the best chance of being allocated the space and position they requested. Companies can also book online for drinktec 2009, at www.drinktec.com.

In the first phase of exhibitor acquisition, all exhibitors at drinktec 2005 were granted a loyalty bonus if they booked for drinktec 2009 by 31 December 2006. This incentive was a great success, and by that date over 300 registrations had been received from 25 countries; 10 percent of this number were new customers. The companies registered for the fair - an index can be called up at www.drinktec.com - span all segments within the beverages and liquid food sectors, from raw materials to palletising. In view of the tremendous response already to the fair, Exhibition Manager Petra Westphal is very confident about the forthcoming event: “Despite further consolidation and rationalisation in the sector the total exhibition space and the number of exhibitors looks set to remain constant. And with a 50:50 proportion, there is a good balance between national and international exhibitors. We expect this also to remain more or less unchanged.”

Among the firms who have already signed up to take part in drinktec 2009 are multi-nationals as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises. For the latter the drinktec organisers have put together an especially attractive full-service package, for exhibitors who book stands of up to 50 square metres. As well as stand space, it also includes a full stand-building service and communication services. If requested, the drinktec team can also organise trade-fair training for stand staff, even providing personnel where required, and take care of logging and processing contact data. In visitor acquisition the critical phase begins in autumn 2008. That´s when the drinktec team launches its global PR campaign for the major event taking place in the following year. The campaign will also have an emotional pitch, says Petra Westphal: “We will be taking the drinktec 2009 road show to all parts of the globe, visiting over 30 different countries. We won´t just be presenting the hard facts, but also focusing on personal contacts, and encouraging a sense of togetherness. We want to convey our enthusiasm for the upcoming drinktec to the visitors and give them the very real feeling that we are extending a personal invitation to them to come to Munich.”
