Following the general assembly held on April the 10th at Château
d’Yquem, the Sauternes and Barsac Crus Classés are happy to announce the nomination of their new President.
Bérénice Lurton (Château Climens) will succeed Nancy de Bournazel (Château de Malle) in heading the prestigious 1855
ranking.
In order to carry out all promotional operations of the Sauternes and Barsac Crus Classés, Bérénice Lurton will be assisted by a team that will play a major role in the new dynamic of this presidency. Philippe Baly (Château Coutet) and Eric Larramona (Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey) will act as Vice-Presidents. Martine Langlais-Pauly (Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey) and Corinne Reulet (Château La Tour Blanche) will provide the General Secretariat, whereas Xavier Planty (Château Guiraud) will remain Treasurer. Marie-Louise Schÿler (Château Suduiraut) will be in charge of
communication. Pierre Lurton (Château d’Yquem), Charles Chevallier (Château Rieussec), Olivier Castéja (Château Doisy-Védrines), Paul-Henry de Bournazel (Château de Malle) and Corinne Biarnes-Dubourdieu (Château Suau) will also be members of the executive committee.
Bérénice Lurton, who comes from a long line of wine growers, will
be able to pass on her experience in the management of a prestigious Château. Her passion for the world of botrytized sweet wines will enable her to convey with vigor and sincerity the image of Sauternes and Barsac Crus Classés throughout the world.
The new president explained: “For 2008, the focal point of our
promotional undertakings will be centered around Vinexpo Hong
Kong, which takes place next May. The trade show’s program strongly emphasizes our wines with its own stand, a master class before 80 Asian wine professionals, as well as a dinner with Chinese consumers.
This program will conclude with a prestigious dinner in Shanghai.
Demonstrating explosive growth, China’s market is developing rapidly, and our wines, which go very well with Chinese cuisine, are an intrinsic part of the whole dynamics. Concurrently, we are continuing our focus on our traditional markets with a series of tastings in France, Europe and United-States.”
This new presidency comes under good auspices, notably with the
successful launching of the 2007 vintage, which last week in Bordeaux charmed the group of professionals from all over the world…
