Thank you for your comment. We felt that despite the quality of the written English it is a serious study and one therefore that required to be brought to people’s attention. We are not aware of any original French version and we would imagine that most readers of this site would nonetheless prefer to read it in English, however poor the standard of the writing. If an original French version is notified to us we would be happy to provide a link.

Dear Editors of Wine Industry Report:

Just a remark about the article “The influence of a label on wine consumption” (April 28th), to which you have provided a link on your site: the “English” in this article is often so bad that it renders the meaning unclear, at certain points even completely undecipherable, which is a shame. Maybe you could ask the authors to make the original French version available as well? (I sent an email to them myself, a week or so back, asking for a copy of the original, but so far no response.)

They’re not doing themselves or their (potentially) very interesting and useful article any favours by trying to write in a language they haven’t fully gotten the hang of (although, to be fair, their English isn’t much worse than a lot of the Internet English produced by native speakers!). It also occurs to me that linking directly to such a poorly-written/translated article doesn’t reflect all that positively on “Wine Industry Report”, either.

I wonder whether you’ve had any similar feedback about this article from other visitors to the site?
