Wines of Chile is delighted that Riedel has chosen Chilean wine for use at its tastings at London International Wine Fair 2008.
2008 is an important year for Riedel as it marks the 50th anniversary of the world’s first wine specific glass created by Riedel for Burgundy Grand Cru in 1958. To mark this, Riedel has decided to put a greater and more interactive focus on tasting than ever before at LIWF and in conjunction with Wines of Chile, will host a series of comparative tastings and a blind tasting competition on its stand over the three days of LIWF. The premium wines used will be exclusively from Chile.
Wines of Chile UK Director Michael Cox said, “It is testimony to Chile’s growing prominence and quality that Riedel have exclusively selected Chile’s characterful wines to demonstrate the quality of their crystal glassware”
Riedel will use Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon for the comparative tastings. Each variety will be presented in three different Riedel glasses so that visitors can determine how the right glass allows the individual characteristics of a wine to develop. These tasting sessions will be held twice each day of LIWF.
Additionally, Riedel will have a blind tasting competition running throughout LIWF. Each day a top Chilean wine will be tasted from a Riedel Black Decanter. Visitors who correctly identify the grape variety, Chilean wine growing region and vintage, will be entered into a daily prize draw to win the decanter, worth £300.
