Bordeaux’s Château Haut Bailly and the city’s oldest bookshop,
Mollat, will launch the first château based specialist bookshop.
The official launch of the new Haut Bailly book and wine tasting annexe will take place in June 2008 at the Cru Classé Château just outside Bordeaux.
A shared love of books and wine has brought together the owners of Haut Bailly, Mr and Mrs Robert G. Wilmers and the chateau’s director, Veronique Sanders, with the owners of Bordeaux’s oldest independent book shop, the Mollat family. “This partnership brings together our mutual love of elegant wine and good books,” said Veronique Sanders. The advantage of this annexe is its selection of the latest specialist books on viticulture, grape varieties and wine tasting, as well as chateaux architecture, modern art, and the very best tourist and culinary guides too. The guides also include listings of the best Bordeaux restaurants and traditional recipes. A range of the latest professional wine accessories, used at the chateau every day, are also available in the new boutique.
Haut Bailly has a long tradition of welcoming visitors and the new annexe is a coherent extension of this philosophy. The Château already offers a range of corporate services – by appointment only - including catered lunches, wine tastings and tours of the estate.
