Sven Bruchfeld Joins Team as Chief Winemaker

SANTIAGO, Chile – Viña Santa Carolina has designated Sven Bruchfeld as Chief Winemaker. Bruchfeld is charged with establishing a new winemaking vision for Viña Santa Carolina and will oversee all operations at the winery in Santiago. Bruchfeld is backed by tremendous experience in Chile and abroad. His solid professional career is built upon his ample knowledge and participation in harvests and winemaking in major wineproducing regions around the world, such as Australia, France, and Germany. Bruchfeld holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Universidad Católica de Chile and later specialized in viticulture and enology at the University of California at Davis. Before joining Viña Santa Carolina, Sven worked at Reh-Kendermann (Germany) and at the Chilean wineries Undurraga, Errázuriz, and MontGras. In addition, Bruchfeld is a candidate in the Master of Wine program, further demonstrating his knowledge and pursuit of excellence.

“Sven’s broad, bold perspective on winemaking, academic profile, professional development, and knowledge of the latest world trends makes him a highly valuable addition to the company,” said Managing Director Felipe de la Jara. “All of his clearly outstanding attributes pointed to him as the ideal person to lead this winery.” Bruchfeld takes over for Consuelo Marín Gamé, who has moved on to other opportunities in Chile.

Founded in 1875, Viña Santa Carolina (www.santacarolina.com) is among Chile’s oldest continuously operating wineries, with a history of leadership in one of the New World’s most exciting winemaking regions.

Viña Santa Carolina is imported by North Lake Wines, the classic wine producer of Constellation Wines U.S., which is part of Constellation Wines, the world’s largest wine business, an operating division of Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ and STZ.B) (“CBI”). Constellation Wines U.S. encompasses three of CBI’s U.S. wine businesses: Canandaigua Wine Company, Pacific Wine Partners, and North Lake Wines. Leading brands for North Lake Wines include Escudo Rojo, Fernleaf, Foolish Oak, J Roget, Kelly’s Revenge, Marcus James, Mouton Cadet, Paul Masson table wines, Smashed Grapes, Taylor California Cellars, and Viña Santa Carolina.
