Following approval from the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office, Pernod Ricard confirms successful completion of the Framingham brand, winery and vineyard sale to Sogrape effective 31st January 2008. In accordance with the agreement, Pernod Ricard retains the distribution rights for Framingham in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Travel Retail markets.

Sauvignon Blanc - a saviour for New Zealand?

The wine industry is riding high on a wave of Sauvignon Blanc, the wondrous grape variety that in Marlborough is perfectly suited to industrial production on a large scale, driving profits for factory wine producers as energetically as it drives export volumes. But the first wine industry benchmarking report by international consultants Deloitte suggests that the fast ride to success offered by sauvignon blanc could lead to a fall unless wine producers tend to their long-term prospects.

Top awards for young NZ Central Otago winery

Wild Earth Wines, one of the new generation of Central Otago winemakers, has taken two major pinot noir awards at the Sydney International Wine Competition 2007. The winery’s 2005 Pinot Noir has earned a Top 100 award, ranking in the top 5% of all wines entered in the competition, while the 2004 vintage secured a Blue Gold Medal, granted only to wines placed in the top ten percent of the 2,000 wines entered.
